February come and almost gone!

Again, it has been too long since my last post!  I sometimes feel that I need a big event to write a post.  February feels like it was a month full of ordinary days.  But my mom always reminds me to thank God for the ordinary days!

The biggest February news is that we seemed to have made a real dent in the potty training with Owen.  I am hoping we will be completely out of the pull-ups soon.  This also means that he will be ready for preschool in September.  We signed him up at Hand-in-Hand preschool.  It is a tiny school and we are really excited about it!

Well, thanks for stopping by!  We are really looking forward to what March has to offer!

Baking a Cake for Brigid and Brad

I am now writing these blogs a bit out of order.  I think the fact that I am busy mama will be the excuse I use.  I just wanted to share the pictures of the boys and I making a cake for Brigid and Brad's visit.  We decided to make them a red velvet cake since that is what their wedding cake is going to be.  This was also the first time I had tried to make a red velvet cake.  It was a yummy cake but I am betting that the one they get from the bakery will be a lot yummier.

At one point in the baking process it did look like a powdered sugar bomb had gone off in our kitchen.  Then the boys decided it would be fun to start licking it directly off the counter.  Ok, so this wasn't my most calm baking experience.  Just probably one I won't forget.  In the end though, the boys had fun and we ate some homemade cake.  Not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

It's been a while!

I just realized that I am really behind on updating this blog!  It seems that daily life stuff has gotten in the way.  We have had a busy couple of months!

Christmas was a blast.  The boys are really into Christmas now.  This is makes it really fun for the whole family.  We had our good friends over for dinner.  It was wonderful to share the meal with them.

After Christmas, we took our first real road trip as a family.  We drove 10 hours to visit our dear Oregon friends.  The boys did really good in the car.  It was so nice to see old friends.  We really appreciate them putting us up for a few days!

Then in January, Aunt Brigid and Uncle Brad came to visit us.  We had so much fun.  We hiked to the bottom of Snoqualmie Falls.  It was about a mile round trip hike!  The boys did good.  It was really neat to see the falls from the bottom.   While they were here, we also relaxed, played and laughed a lot.  It was so nice to have them here and we can't wait for them to come back!

I will try to keep this more updated in the future.  Thanks for stopping by!!  I will try to post some pictures soon!

Santa Train

Today, we took a train ride to go see Santa.  The boys got to meet Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas.  We were expecting Santa to reward them with a candy cane but instead he gave them a wooden model train!!  We also had hot chocolate and cookies.  We watched them making the cookies right on the train!   We also explored several train cars!!  Then after we explored, it was time to take the train back!   The boys really loved riding on the train!  The train car we rode on was built in 1913!  It originally ran from Pittsburgh to Chicago.  What a fun day!! Our only complaint was that it was a very chilly day, but I guess that isn't Santa's fault!!  Isn't the Christmas season fun??

Grandpa and Grandma Knight Visit

This Thanksgiving was a lot of fun because Grandma and Grandpa Knight visited us.  Brandon and I cooked our first Thanksgiving meal!  I think it turned out pretty well.  After dinner, we gave the boys some See's Candy.  Seamus loved it.

It was great to spend some quality time with grandma and grandpa.  And they were a big help around the house!  Brandon and I even got to go out a few times by ourselves.

We also took them to one of our favorite spots, Snoqualmie Falls.  It is such an awesome wonder to see!  All in all, it was a great trip.  We are so happy they came to see us!!

Owen the Banana

Lately Owen has been pulling his shirt over his head and pretending he is a banana.  It is a very cute ordeal.  Even if I worry that all his shirts are getting stretched out.
